What is an initial consultation?
The initial consultation is the first step in your child's journey with The Christopher Clinic. This 45 minute online appointment provides an opportunity to discuss your concerns, understand your child's communication needs and explore how any speech, language or communication difficulties may be affecting their everyday life.
What happens during the consultation?
During the consultation, Dr Christopher will gather a detailed case history, discuss your child's strengths and areas of difficulty, answer any questions you may have and explain the assessment and therapy process. Previous reports from schools, nurseries or other professionals can also be reviewed where appropriate.
Does my child need to attend?
No. The initial consultation is usually attended by a parent or carer, allowing plenty of time to talk openly about your child's development, current concerns and any questions you may have.
What happens next?
Following the consultation, Dr Christopher will recommend the most appropriate next steps based on your child's individual needs. This may include one of our tailored assessment pathways, direct therapy, or practical advice and strategies to support your child at home.

How much does an initial consultation cost?
An initial consultation costs £65 and lasts 45 minutes. The appointment takes place online via Microsoft Teams, allowing you to attend from the comfort of your own home. There is no obligation to continue with assessment or therapy following the consultation. If further support is recommended, Dr Christopher will discuss the available options with you and help you decide on the most appropriate next steps for your child.
